Does
the "Pool Safety Net" officially eliminate the
need for a pool fence?
Answer: No!
Although it can easily be argued that a "pool safety
net" better serves parents with small children. The
Government quite rightly believe many pool owners
discontinue using pool nets when their children are old
enough to swim properly. Therefore we support the need for
perimeter yard fences to protect neighbouring children and
animals but we would prefer to see freedom
of choice in our own backyards to suit our family needs
and in the case of a pool net even better safety. The net
seems to be the first choice of parents who wish to have
a more positive barrier for their own children. Fences can
be impractical on above ground pools, spa's, fish ponds
and water features, this is where a net can be the perfect
barrier and has no equal. See letter from Official
Gov View

A
fence can cut up the yard and spoil the view. Does the "Pool
Safety Net" also spoil the yard and views?
Answer: No!
The pool net does not cut up the yard or spoil beautiful
views even the poolside entertainment areas are made available
to parents with children in tow.

How
long will a pool safety net last?
Answer: Most pool nets have lasted for approx 10
years pending general wear. The net is made from UV resistant
and chemical resistant polyethylene. It is extremely strong
and could easily take the weight of two adults- it is very
stable and stretch resistant.

Is
the pool net difficult to fit and remove?
Answer: a normal pool net of 10 x 5 meters needs
less than 5 minutes to remove or replace after use. Remember
that for 8 cold months a year this chore does not exist.
(Sometimes making a little effort is better than automatically
assuming the gate closes behind you and assuming it is an
impenetrable fortress.) Many parents of small children think
the effort required is a small price to pay for their children's
safety.

Is
the pool net itself a hazard and could it cause injury?
Answer: As with many household objects the pool net
left lying around itself could be a hazard, and must be
completely installed or completely removed and safely stored
to avoid unforeseen accidents.
The net is a rigid object when properly fitted and a child
cannot become tangled in it.

Can
a child crawl to the centre of the net and drown?
Answer: Although the net can easily, support the
weight of an adult or child, a child could be in danger
on a net near the middle of a pool, because the weight of
a child could cause the net to sag a few inches below the
water level.
Fortunately this has never been known to happen. Most children
do not enjoy being on the net, it is uncomfortable and very
difficult to crawl on. All children strong or old enough
to crawl that far onto the net crawl back when they start
to get wet, or the child is strong or old enough to sit
up or lift it's head. The same child who climbs to the centre
of the net, could probably have climbed a fence or opened
the pool gate, and could theoretically be at the bottom
of the pool if there was no net, This unfortunate child
would not be seen, and would not have the chance to scream
or hold it's head up as it can do with the pool safety net
There is no substitute for adult supervision. The pool safety
net is not a trampoline or climbing toy and children should
not be allowed to climb on it or play with it in the pool
or out of the pool. The "Pool Safety Net" is an
excellent safety aid if used responsibly and with child
safety in mind. The pool safety net has already won it's
place as a major life saver in other countries, and speculated
shortcomings have been proved groundless by comparison to
the advantages gained.

Do
people really use the net for animal safety or to keep ducks
away ?
Answer: Absolutely many people consider animals a
part of their family in the case of pets and others feel
very guilty when a koala or other animal is endangered by
a pool.
Ducks
can render a swimming pool unusable and there droppings
are a health hazard. These pools have even been removed
at great cost. Most pool owners have never found any solution
so successful as a pool net proffesionally fitted. It is
the best solution.
